We are still enamored with business as usual.

We’ve been trained to accept the unacceptable.

Afshin-Pirhashemi-Untitled-2017

I watched a brain-dead debate based on the same old script. We can expect business as usual, the same grievances, and rolling catastrophes without the ability or desire to address the preconditions and complex causes of critical challenges and threats to civilization eroding global security and stability.

We need more imagination and knowledge to develop the leaders required for our times. Leaders today are venal, narrow-minded performers, front men and women who parrot the ideologies of The Great Game to protect profits, maintain their status, keep their jobs and ensure flows of resources, go to the Players who have everything but are still keeping score and only want more control.

People will enjoy the emotional roller coaster, pop pills, consume what makes them feel good, and believe what they’ve been conditioned to believe.

Our misguided passions will continue to increase the pace of overshoot. The ‘negative externalities’ are piling up faster and faster as we struggle with learning an obvious lesson the hard way — that we live in a world of natural constraints. Homo sapiens can’t flourish without a healthy, balanced natural world of continually transforming systems of complex living beings. Science, engineering, technology, conquest, money, politics, and religion won’t help us if we can’t listen to Nature.

Enjoy the show while you can.
